Arise

Arise

For the last few days I’ve been hearing the word arise. Even on this morning, I woke up with the word arise and kept hearing it all throughout the day. I guess that mean’s that it is time to arise. Who is ready to arise with me? The year is coming to a close and a new year will be upon us fast. Make sure you are ready to arise when the new year comes. Better yet, don’t wait until January to emerge into something new. Why not start now on the path to greatness?

Questions to Ask Yourself

The Lord God said to the people of Israel you have stayed at this mountain long enough. Whatever situation or stage you are experiencing in life ask yourself:

    • Have I been in this place too long?
    • Is it time to stop dwelling on the same issues of the past?
    • Have I overstayed my welcome in my negative and unfruitful thoughts?
    • How long do I want to be stuck?
    • How long do I want to keep feeling like this?
    • How long will I wait to accomplish my dreams and goal?
  • Did I accomplish any of the things on my dream board that I created at the beginning of the year?

God Is Ready For You to Arise

God wants to enlarge your territory but He is waiting for you get moving. It’s time to stop dreaming and start doing.

Deuteronomy 1:6-8

6 “When we were at Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. 7 It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills,[d] the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River. 8 Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.’”

God is saying that you have dwelled at that place in your life long enough and it’s time to advance forward.  You have dwelled in your same emotions and fears long enough. It’s time to turn those emotions and fears into your passion and purpose.

Propel Others to Greatness

Everything that you’ve experienced at this mountain in your life you must take it and share it with others so that they may advance as well. God does not allow you to encounter a mountain in your life without you picking up wisdom on the way so that you may strengthen others. It’s time for you to help propel others into greatness and help them over the mountains that you had to climb in life. My motivation for my clothing line and blog comes from this principle I strive to live by .Be the person that will help someone else see the light in their storm. Be the one that gives words of encouragement and let your life be hope to someone that has experienced the same things as you.”

Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

Don’t let all the pain and trials that you’ve experienced go to waste. Don’t experience pain in vain, turn it into a passion to propel others to greatness.

Back to Deuteronomy 1:8

The Lord is saying “Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it. Move from your current dwelling place of emotions, fear, pain or whatever it may be and go and possess this new land. That new land may be your career, a business idea, eating healthy, working out, networking with with others or walking into your calling. Whatever it is that you have been wanting to do, do it now. Arise now and don’t delay.

What Happens When You Delay?

Acts 12:7-8

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 Then the angel told him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered.

Peter rose up so quickly that the chains fell off his hands. Once you arise, make the decision to move forward and don’t look back. Once the chains fell off, Peter put on his sandals and his coat and followed the angel and left the cell. Put on your proper attire so that you may be fit for the task at hand. Peter put on his sandals so he was fit to walk and he girded up his clothing. Gird up your loins and arise. Gird up your loins translates to prepare and strengthen yourself for what is to come.

Don’t wait, move quickly. If Peter would have stopped to ask questions and over analyze he could have woken the two guards that he was chained to. Don’t over analyze when you get ready to move so you do not awaken fears, emotions or strongholds that were chained to you in your past. Move quickly before you start to over  analyze and ask yourself a million questions on how it will be accomplished. Once we start to over analyze we start to second guess ourselves. Don’t over think it, just arise and go. My friend tried to throw shade on me the other day by saying “does your brain ever hurt from over analyzing so much?” Give your brain a break from over analyzing and arise.

Practical Implementation: The 5 Second Rule

For all of those people who are like me and love practical tips, this is for you.

The moment you feel yourself hesitate (when you know you should do something) start counting backward 5-4-3-2-1, then GO. The Rule is a proven, form of metacognition. When you use it, you shift mental gears, interrupt your habit of overthinking and awaken your pre-frontal cortex – making change easy. The rule acts as a “starting ritual” that breaks bad habits and triggers positive new behavior change. – Mel Robbins

See video on the 5 second rule by motivational speaker, Mel Robbins (start at 2:34)

When you feel yourself hesitating to do something interrupt that hesitating thought by counting and then springing into action. You can also combat that thought with a scripture that says you can.

Put On Your Game Face and Get Ready to Go

Just as Peter put on his sandals and coat (Acts 12:8)  put on your game face or war clothes or business clothes or business mindset, do whatever it is you need to do to prepare yourself for the place that you are going to and don’t look back.  Arise quickly today so that you might be the light shining in on someone who is imprisoned by their mountain.

Before Peter was prompted to arise quickly there was a bright light that was shinning in the prison.

Acts 12:7

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.

Before you can prompt others to get up quickly from their situation your life must first be a light to them. Why would someone receive your counsel if your life is not a light and testimony of the Lord, Grace and Power of God?

Power Thoughts To Remember

    • You’ll dwelled in this place long enough
    • It’s time to move
    • Move quickly (5 second rule)
  • Don’t over analyze
  • Propel others to greatness
  • Let your life be a light before prompting others to greatness

Leave me a comment letting me know that you are ready to move forward and arise.

  1. I agree it’s time to arise. I am attending a weekly Bible study on the study of the life of David. The presenter pointed out how long it was between the time David was anointed king of Israel as a boy and when he actually became king at the age of 37. We will go through many many battles in life on the way to our blessings. Know that the blessings will come because God keeps the promises he has made to us. Our battles are a training ground – learn what you can and use it to teach and bless others. Don’t get weary and discouraged. Get ready to go out to reach, touch, impart and bless someone else.
