Fight your Fear: Developing a Strategy

Fight your Fear: Developing a Strategy

Step #1 from last week’s post was “know the root and nature of your fear.” Now that you understand the nature of your fear you can develop a strategy to fight it. If you haven’t read step #1 to crushing your fear you can read here.

Combat Every Fearful Thought with a Power Statement

In one of my recent posts I talked about the greatness principal, feeding your mind greatness. This principal is feeding your mind the word of God to combat fear.

If I was fear, I would get you to stop speaking the word of God over your life. If fear can get you to stop speaking life it will get you to the point where you lose your passion. And when you lose your passion you will start to question what your purpose really is. That is the purpose of fear, to get you off track from accomplishing your destiny.

Why does fear fight our mind so hard?

The enemy uses fear because it makes you question yourself and forget about your identity in Christ. When this happens it makes the enemy’s job a whole lot easier. So your passion is sought after to get you to lose your desire to strive for greatness and to kill your desire to read God’s word. The devil doesn’t want you to read God’s word because he knows the true power that lies within it. Once you tap into that power the enemy knows that he will no longer have power over your mind. This is because the word of God brings clarity and light to the darkness in life. It is also where your faith is strengthened to fight your fear. Now that you know why fear comes to attack your mind here are some action steps to fighting your fear.

These steps below are all things I did during the course of healing and rebuilding after my divorce. During that time fear told me that I was unworthy of love, that I would never have healthy relationships, inadequate to hold a job and that I would always walk in depression and anxiety. My fear made me question my business, Majestic Royalty, and made me question my life and that there would be no life after my divorce. Today I can say that I have overcome all of these things that fear plagued my mind with and now I see that you can walk in abundant life after divorce.

That doesn’t mean that it all happened over night. It was a process that required consistency and being intentional about my thoughts and actions.

Action Steps to creating your strategy against fear:

  1. Interrupt your fearful thoughts by speaking out loud what God’s word says about you.
  2. Write down or type all the things that God’s word says about you.
    • You are what the word of God says you are and no one can say any different. The sooner you believe it the sooner it will become manifested in your life.
  3. Write down the negative and self-defeating thoughts that fear causes you to have.
    • Then go back to #2 and match up what God’s word says about your negative thoughts.
  4. Ask yourself what false beliefs do I believe about myself?
    • Then go to the Word of God and find scriptures that combat those false beliefs about yourself.
  5. Make a note of when fear comes to your mind.
    • What specifically were you doing?
    • Who were you around or talking with?
    • What were you thinking about
    • Figuring out your triggers will help you develop your fight plan
  6. Write down exactly what it is you are afraid of and why.
    • Develop a plan on how you will accomplish what you are afraid to do.

When you believe and know what the word of God says about you, there is nothing that can stop you. It’s important to know what the word of God says about you so you can know your identity.

When you don’t know your identity you become fair game for the enemy to mold you into whatever image he wants.

When you don’t know your identity you become fair game for people, society, the media, and the enemy to mold you into whatever image they want. But when you believe what God says about you you will behave in that manner.

Remember that you have the power to cast down any thought that you do not like and that does not line up with the word of God.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV

In order to purge out fear you have to pour God’s word in your mind. Each day is a choice to purge out a little bit of fear with the word of God.

The more you speak out loud against your fear the more your mindset will start to change. How you perceive your fear is how your fear will appear  in your life.

How you perceive your fear is how your fear will appear  in your life.

If you perceive your fear as big and scary your problems will be big and scary. If you perceive your fear as small you will be able to easily conquer it. The enemy only has as much power over you as you allow him to have.

As you go throughout the day release any self-defeating thoughts you have about yourself and ask the Lord to protect and strengthen your faith, mind and your passion.

As I always say now Go and Be Great. I hope you enjoyed post from Yolanda Carter of Majestic Royalty. It is always my goal to inspire you to greatness and help you remember there is life after divorce or whatever obstacle you have encountered in life.

  1. We are in a battle everyday. We are at war with the enemy. Fear is one of the tactics he uses against us. But we can win every time with God on our side.
