Chase After Your Dreams With a Childlike Zeal

Chase After Your Dreams With a Childlike Zeal

I want you to stop and take a breathe and really think about your life and reevaluate it. Ask yourself, am I really doing what I want to do in life? Am I making a difference? When others look at my life does it promote them to do better or go after their dreams? Am I really operating at my full potential or am I just living life? We all have dreams and goals that we want to accomplish but we often get busy in going about life. We do all the things that people told us we were suppose to do now that we are adults.

“We get so busy adulting that we forget to chase after our dreams and goals.”

But now is the time to break out of the mold of doing life the same way and the way we were told to do it.

Chase after your dreams and goals

Sometimes we have to take a moment and speak to our inner child. Can you remember how excited you were about all the things you wanted to accomplish when you graduated college? You walked, some danced, others shouted and some even party hopped across the stage with their degree in hand. You were ready to take the world by storm and be a game changer; then life happened. Several years passed and we found ourselves working a job just to get a check and pay the bills and pay back Sallie Mae.

I was caught into that cycle too. Just working to make a paycheck so I could pay my bills. After recently being without a job for 5 months I was excited when a job came along so I could stay on top of my rent and other expenses. It was a sales job that I was not passionate about but I continued to work it because as adults we have responsibilities and we have to adult. Eventually the little girl on the inside of me started crying out.

When you have emotions of sadness, unhappiness, anxiety,  and depression, etc. it’s usually because your child on the inside of you is trying to tell you something is wrong and that it needs to be fixed.

I finally stopped to listen to my inner child. I had to speak to myself to remind myself that I wasn’t created to be mediocre and just work for a paycheck. My passion needed to be reignited and that childlike zeal needed to come back to like.  I dug into the scriptures and I wrote this affirmation/letter to my inner girl.

Little girl, you are greatness. There is greatness inside of you.

Take a look within to tap into your greatness. Everything you need to be great is already inside of you.

Little girl, go and be great.

Little girl, you are valuable.

Little girl you are worthy.

Little girl you are beautiful.

Little girl, you have already been validated by God.

You don’t need the validation of anyone in this world.

Little girl, you are free. There is nothing holding you back from stepping into your marvelous future.

Little girl, go and be free

Little girl you are powerful. You have all the power on the inside of you.

Don’t you know just how powerful you are? Your power needs to be activated for it to work.

Little girl, you are a force to be reckoned with.

Little girl, go and be powerful.

Greatness is waiting on you. It’s just waiting for you to tap into it. Once you tap into your greatness you can then help release the greatness of others in your inner circle or those watching from a far.

I wrote the affirmation above when I was walking through some dark times in my life and working a job just to pay the bills. I felt really mediocre and like I wasn’t reaching my full potential. And those feelings could have been due to other circumstances that I’ll blog about later.

But no matter the circumstances in your life you still have the power to be great. Even if those circumstances crumble everything on the inside of you, you still have the power to rebuild and get back up to go and be great.

I had to remind myself that God created me to be great. God created me to do so much more. I had to remember that the same resurrected power that is in Jesus lives in me. This instantly made me think about the scripture.

12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

John 14:12

Christ has given us the power to do magnificent works. All we have to do is believe to  tap into it and then use it. It only works if you use it. So I decided to stop  being content with being mediocre and tap into the greatness on the inside of me.  And I’m not saying it’s going to be easy to rebuild or to tap into your greatness but the process will be worth the results.

But I can now say I no longer feel mediocre and I stepped out of my comfort zone to move to a completely new state to work a job that I love and to continue to chase after my dreams with a childlike zeal.  The next time you are feeling mediocre or that you are just going about life and not really experiencing it, remember to speak to your inner and remind him and her how great your Father in heaven created you to be. Dive into the scriptures and find all the promises that speak to your dreams. Even if you do not believe it just keep speaking it over your life until you believe.

  1. I’m allllllllll for this right here Yollie. Long story short, I should’ve been a Registered Nurses years ago. Had plenty of opportunities to achieve this goal before my adult life kicked in ( kids, husband, mortgage). However, my adult life, my children to be exact, has been my motivation ever since Gabrielle was born. As a mother, I came to the conclusion that kids are either gonna be the reason why you do something, or the reason why you don’t. I’ve decided to let my kids be the reason why I go to school full time, work full time, and still chase this 10 year dream of mine to see it come to past.
